License basics
When you purchase an STLStock product, you receive a limited license to use the included digital files. The designer retains ownership of the model and its intellectual property.
You may use the file within the selected license, but you may not sell, share or redistribute the digital source file itself.
Personal License
The Personal License allows one purchasing individual to download, resize and print the model for non-commercial projects.
- Personal baking, craft, clay and maker projects.
- Physical gifts made without payment or commercial promotion.
- Reasonable backup copies kept by the purchasing user.
- Printing through a service provider that handles the file only for your project.
- No sale of the physical print or products made using the printed tool.
Uses that are always prohibited
Unless STLStock gives explicit written permission, no license allows you to:
- Share, upload, sublicense, resell or redistribute a digital file.
- Include the file in another digital bundle, library, template or membership.
- Make a file available through social media, cloud folders, groups or marketplaces.
- Claim authorship or register the design as your own intellectual property.
- Use preview images or branding in a way that suggests endorsement.
Physical end products
A Personal License does not permit physical-item sales. An eligible single product must be purchased with its Commercial License before selling a printed model or physical products made using the printed tool.
The digital file may never be transferred to a customer together with a physical product.
Commercial License
When shown on an eligible single-product page, the Commercial License allows one purchasing person or business to sell up to 500 physical prints or physical products made using the printed tool.
- The limit applies per purchased product license.
- Commercial permission covers physical products only.
- The STL, modified STL and derivative digital files remain protected and may not be sold or distributed.
- Production above the displayed limit requires another license or written permission.
Bundles and collections
A bundle is purchased as one storefront product but contains multiple individual digital models. Choose Personal for private projects or Commercial for the physical-sales allowance displayed on that bundle page.
- A bundle Commercial License covers the included models as one collection up to its displayed combined physical-sales limit.
- Individual files may not be separated and redistributed.
- If a product-specific restriction is listed inside the bundle, that restriction continues to apply.
Modifications and derivatives
You may resize or make practical adjustments to a model for uses allowed by your license. Modification does not create a new right to redistribute, sell or claim ownership of the underlying file.
A derivative digital file remains subject to the original license restrictions.
Accounts, businesses and contractors
A license belongs to one purchasing individual or one purchasing business. A colleague acting outside that business, a client or a separate business requires its own license unless written permission says otherwise.
A print service may receive a file only to manufacture an item allowed by the selected license and must delete its copy after completing the job.
Enforcement and termination
A license may terminate if its restrictions are materially breached. On termination, unauthorized copies and shared files must be removed, without limiting other rights available to the designer or STLStock.
If you discover accidental sharing, stop access and contact support promptly so the situation can be reviewed.
Questions and special permission
If an intended use is not clearly allowed, request permission before using the file. Include the product name, intended quantity, sales channel and whether anyone else needs file access.
Only written permission specific to that use changes the standard license. Contact support through the license question form.
